Domain Names:
A Domain Name is the name by which an organisation's is recognised on
the Internet. Domain Name Systems (DNS) technology allows users to
choose their domain name. Ideally an organisation will want it's
domain name to be relevant to it's own company, brand or products.
E-mail and web site addresses should mean something recognisable to your
clients, contacts and potential customers.
An example
is this site -
www.nemysys.com not
www.freeserve.co.uk/nemysys.htm; this address is not only ugly, but it gives
your visitor the impression that you can't be bothered to have your own
site.
Why
register your name now?
Your domain name will become your unique identifier on the Internet.
Since many organisations trade by the same or similar names, it is
imperative that you reserve your domain names as soon as possible as they
are registered on a first come - first served basis.
After
Registration:
As soon as the appropriate registry has cleared the allocation of your
domain name, it is delegated to a DNS server. This technical
procedure transfers control of the name to a server. In practise
this means that your name actually points to a web site or e-mail address.
Annual
Fees:
To
ensure continued use of a domain name, you must maintain payment of annual
fees to the Central Registries. The first two years' fees are
payable in advance and are included in our charges. |
